Petition to protect healthy light bulbs

In a retrograde move the US Department of Energy (DOE) in April 2024 issued a final rule that, unless we take action, will ban most healthy light bulbs effective June 25 2028, and will firmly cement the dominance of unhealthy blue-pump LED light bulbs.

The rule requires a minimum efficiency of 125 lumens per watt for most light bulbs that cannot be met by many healthy light bulbs

We have prepared a petition for rulemaking to the DOE to protect healthy light bulbs from the 125 lumens per watt rule by creating a new Product Class (“General Wellness Lamps”) that will not be subject to the 125 lumens per watt rule.
